Where do I start with this book? First, I will say the people in the book felt real and I fell in love with all of them. Except the dad. I wanted to shake him and tell him to snap out of it. Winona, the oldest touched my heart, even though I didn’t always approve of how she handled things. She was brilliant and became my hero. Without giving it away, I’ll just say I fell in love with her mind, even when it was closed. Vivi Ann, had it all until she didn’t. And Aurora was the middle and maybe my least favorite, but not because she wasn’t an amazing sister. Her part in the family just didn’t grab me as much as Winona and Vivi Ann. But still, she was important. Noah, grabbed my heart strings and so did Dallas. This book is the kind you can’t put down. I stayed up late two nights because I was so hooked. I can’t imagine giving this book anything other than five stars. This is the second book I’ve read by this Author and I plan on reading them all. The only down side was I wanted more. I love these people and didn’t want to say goodbye. I wanted to see what happens with Winona and Aurora. It was hard to read the last page. Great ending, but hard to say goodbye to Noah.Tags : True Colors [Kristin Hannah] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers.

True Colors is New York Times bestselling author Kristin Hannah’s most provocative,Kristin Hannah,True Colors,St. Martin's Press,0312364105,Domestic fiction.,Sisters;Fiction.,Washington (State);Fiction.,AMERICAN CONTEMPORARY FICTION,American Contemporary Fiction - Individual Authors +,Contemporary Women,Domestic fiction,FICTION Family Life General,Family Life,Fiction,Fiction - Coming of Age,Fiction - General,Fiction Contemporary Women,GENERAL,General Adult,HANNAH, KRISTIN - PROSE & CRITICISM,Sisters,United States,Washington (State)

In baseball terms, this was a single run homer, not a grand Slam home run. I really liked this book. Like all of Hanna's books, your heart is grabbed and the emotional toll on you is hard to bear. It is a page turner. It is another reason she is one of my favorite authors.
But no one can hit grand Slams at every at bat. And that's ok. They are still a super star. So what if it isn't as good a say, the last FIVE books by her. It is still a best seller, and rightfully so.
You are taken on a ride with each of the characters whereby the ones you started out not liking, you ended up loving, and vic versa. The story itself is a journey... and epic journey.
Terrific read!
This book is another good one by Hannah. Her writing style is well-paced and descriptive so it keeps you interested and anxious to find out what happens next. This one deals with a family of a father and three daughters who lost their mother at a young age. The father is not the sympathetic type and also developed a drinking problem after his wife's death. The sisters are the main event in this novel and since I have grown up with three sisters, it speaks to me. The only other Hannah book I've read is The Nightingale which I found much more interesting but my favorite book is a historical novel. For a fiction novel, it is one of the better ones and I will read more of this author.
Kristin Hannah's books are very easy to read. They are formulaic, and fairly repetitive in the themes. I live in the same place as Ms Hannah, and enjoy her books that are set in familiar places here in the Pacific Northwest.
One thing with this book bugged the heck out of me. Warning, SPOILER AHEAD.
The woman supposedly saw Dallas' tattoo, which was on his bicep. This was on December 24th in Washington state. Uh, if someone was wearing a tank top or very short sleeved top, that would be very noticeable. The weather can be wacky here, but I don't see people in no sleeved shirts in December. This was NEVER addressed in the book, and it was, to me anyway, such an obvious error! I didn't enjoy the book as much as I should have because I kept thinking "surely someone is going to say something about this." Nope. Never happened.
Anyway, this isn't my favorite of her books that I've read. It's okay but very forgettable.
True Colors is a book about three sisters and their lives as it unfolds over the course of thirty years, although it focuses on Vivi Ann and Winona most of all. Winona's jealousy stems from how Vivi Ann has always been their father's favorite and has always had his approval as well especially thirteen years after their mother's death when Vivi Ann starts dating Winona's best friend Luke. A man that Winona has been in love with for years. Aurora knows how she feels, but instead of telling Vivi Ann how she feels she secretly hopes they will broke up. In the meantime she has hired a new ranch hand Dallas who has his eye on Vivi Ann. A potential recipe for disaster since the man is half white and half Native American not to mention a tumultuous past. Although being a victim of child abuse could do that to a man. Because of his past not everyone in town particularly cares for the man which is probably what helps shape some of the events that happen later on in the book. And some of how Winona handles certain things both effects her relationship with her sisters as well as her friendship with Luke. The second half of the book deals a lot with a teenaged Noah and how knowledge of his father effects him and the consequences of how he deals with things. This book is a pretty complex look at families as well as what can happen to people when the Justice system gets things wrong and the importance of things like the Innocence Project and what an effect DNA has on old cases, good and bad, for the wrongfully accused. At times it was a little hard to like Winona but I believe she definitely redeems herself by the end.
Unbelievable poignant story of true love and terrible tragedy. The characters were so realistic and so true to life. I read this to my husband and he was impressed with the story. I am reading the rest of her books!
My absolute favorite book! I own the kindle version and a hard copy. I read this book about every two months. The troubles between sisters and the undying love between Dallas and Vivi Ann is amazing. Kristen Hannah I love practically everything you write but especially this
I picked this book off the list a month or so ago and finally got around to reading it. It is a very well written story of a family, crushed by grief but working through it and standing strong together. It's also a very different love story with many twists, and a lot of heart break and nasty small town prejudice. Through it all this family struggles and battles life's trials, keeping the family ranch going and holding one another up through some devastating life changes. An excellent book, a great story with believable characters that is hard to put down. A great book to curl up with.
