I Am Titanium Pax Black Volume 1 John Patrick Kennedy Books

Who wouldn't jump at the chance for salvation if given a virtual death sentence by an incurable disease? This is only one of the great elements explored in author John Patrick Kennedy's "I Am Titanium". Pax is dying, yet has had the gift of being able to communicated on the astral plane for some time, which is where he is offered the chance for transformation to something much greater than human form. The price for this turns out to be greater than Pax was led to believe and this turns out to be an incredibly intense fantasy read. So looking forward to reading the next book in this series. Very well done.

I Am Titanium Pax Black Volume 1 John Patrick Kennedy Books Reviews

Very cool idea for a book. Some areas of the book feel forced, or not as clean as they could be. Such as the sexual scenes. They feel unnecessary, and now younger people shouldn't read it or may be uncomfortable reading it. Plus, more description would be pretty nice, on the whole, especially regarding powers and people.

Long story short, if you like super powers, unique story lines, and protagonists who are fallible, you'll like this book.
I bought this book just because it looks interesting and I'm on a superhero kick. Honestly the storyline was much more impressive than I expected, with twists and turns no clear "good guy" or "bad guy" the story was great entertainment the whole way through. It's a really good story of how even the best intentions can seem bad, the road to hell truly is paved in good intentions.
This was a very good read. Can't wait for the next one. Lots of twists and turns and we get to see this world from many different sides through the eyes of the different characters. In the real world things are not black and white. Everyone things they are the hero; and here we have a set of them; all doing what THEY think is "the right thing"... An interesting new twist; part urban fantasy, part SciFi. And overall great ride. Couldn't put it down.
I started this book about 4-5 months ago. I have been unable to finish and doubt I ever will. The story had a lot of promise and started off very well. Then somewhere around halfway through, it jumped the rails and smashed through suspended belief into "WTF is going on" territory. The premise of the story was great, and I loved following the main characters, but then making the girl a psuedo-villain and running rampant with the crazy psychic god being, just turned me off. I'm sure there is a plot worth reading in there somewhere but I just don't want to expend the energy reading to get to it.
It can be so hard for me to get into a sci-fi fantasy novel without being confused along the way, but when I am able to get into them, it's one of my favorite genres to read. I also love the length of this novel (I can actually call it a novel!) because so many books on these days are less than 200 pages to where I can finish it in one sitting. While Pax is a genius, I found his character to be really relatable in the sense that he isn't invincible and he's struggling to stay alive. This was a true battle between good and evil and I really enjoyed this!
"I am Titanium" is a very well written and very well thought out science fiction adventure that leaves conventional science fiction themes behind and forges new territory. The main character, Pax, is easily one of the most likable characters I have encountered in quite some time. The plot line is original, the pace moves along briskly and doesn't lag. I have read some of the other reviews and they point to similarities with Avatar, but just because the protagonist can travel outside of his body doesn't make this a copy cat at all. I really enjoyed this book very much and am looking forward to picking up Book Two.
If you have ever wondered how a super hero comes to be then I Am Titanium will be right up your alley. I Am Titanium by John Patrick Kennedy is about a very sick kid named Pax who is dying of an incurable autoimmune disease. His mother is a doctor who has been trying, unsuccessfully to find a cure, unfortunately, Pax’s time is up. Pax is unlike other people, not just because he has a unique disease, but also because he has learned to communicate with the astral plane and because he is a genius. It is in his communications with the astral plane that Pax’s hope for survival lies. In this book I got to witness how Pax, with the help of his mentor Terry, became a “super hero” with the help of a new body made of astral material. This entire book is about the deceit that goes into how he gains his new body, the terrible problems that he becomes aware of once he gains it, and how he learns that he will be responsible for solving them. This book was a great start to the series and I look forward to reading the next volume.
How should I begin... There is nothing "sci-fi" about this novel. Here's one example of the "sci-fi" you can find in this book if you decide to purchase it "Oh noes! I'm dying. [explicit word]! Let me rebuild my body with some of this white stuff... Okay, now I'm immortal!" It's unoriginal, the characters are so flat you can almost literally punch holes in them(And you will want to at times), and the story paces about as well as a dialup modem. When I purchase an indie work for my , I usually manage read it to completion because either I'm intrigued by the concept or because the story drags me to the edge of my seat. I won't say much more except that I only got to about 30% of the novel before I had to put it down because of how many times I had to facepalm and say aloud, "That's not how that works," or just flat out get tired of the story after reading it for a few minutes. My experience may vary from your milage so feel free to purchase the novel and experience it yourself. I, however, will be putting a solid wall between this author's other works and myself.
