The Call of Earth Homecoming #2 Homecoming Saga Orson Scott Card 9780812532616 Books

This is my favorite series from Orson Scott Card. I love the book Ender's Game the most of all of this books, but this entire series is impressive. I love the character development throughout the first three books. I love the relationships between the characters and how their lives are all interwoven. I like how Card writes about a character with a physical disability realistically without sugar coating it and without limiting the character in his ability to contribute to the group in a meaningful way. The abilities to see the connections between people is something I would love to be able to do and I think that was such an interesting part of this story. I would recommend this book to anyone who has liked Card's book in the past and to people who like strong character development in a story!

The Call of Earth Homecoming #2 Homecoming Saga Orson Scott Card 9780812532616 Books Reviews

As with the other books in this series, the story is very slow to understand the goal of the novel. it would have been better to give the reader a 5 minute explanation of when, where, why and how the story was written and what are the players. this certainly is a departure from what i expected from OS Card.
This is my second time reading this book series. I have always enjoyed reading Orson Scott Card’s Books. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
This was a good read. I did read the full 5 volumes in the series and enjoyed them, but it would have been hard to read if not done in order.
The storyline is relatively decent. Not as great as the Xenocide/Ender universe, but pretty good.

Other than claiming human civilization is only 10k yrs old, most of the universe in this series is fairly consistent with itself and with possibility.

The characters are fairly well developed, and overall it flows fairly easily.

The problem I have is that there are OCR errors all through these books which is an unacceptable editing quality for any format of book. Also, the maps and similar front matter are not high enough resolution to pick out all of the details from the original graphics.

These limitations come across as disrespectful to the author and to the audience.
This is an all around excellent book. An incredible cast of characters, a great plot, plenty of crazy twists and turns, and dialect that brings it all to life. While all of the characters from the first book play a big part in this one too, the new character, General Moozh, puts this book on a diferent level. It's going to be hard for the rest of the series to live up to expectations if General Moozh isn't replaced by someone as likeable. However, this books leaves off with the Earthbound party just leaving Bascilica, so the rest of the serires should hold some great excitement. This book was enhanced by the abundancy of dreams, in my opinion. It brings a somehow more serious and meaningful prospective to the whole story. I just hope that the rest of the series can live up to such a high standard.
One question What scene is the cover of the book depicting??
I've been an Orson Scott Card fan for years. This book surprised me. It was incredibly slow to begin, not much happened. I'm rather spoiled by my Unlimited membership and authors. I paid full price for this book in order to continue the series. To me, the cost wasn't worth it, this makes me sadder than madder, this author has penned some extraordinarily fine tales. Now I'm gonna have to decide if I dare spend the money to continue, at $7.99 to $10.99 it will be awhile. Gotta wait for the sting to go away.
Card's novels and series encompass a wide variety of settings, times, and characters. But there is a constant thread of the good/pure/creative vs the evil/misguided/destructive that addresses the human condition and the complexities that lead individuals to disparate places and personalities. The Homecoming Saga is no exception and the story holds up on its own as an entertaining adventure through many centuries of time and history.
I would give five stars but the typographical and grammatical errors found in the book were a distraction that should not be encountered at this level of publishing. There were actually some instances where I had to re-read a section and figure out what the correct words should have been before making sense of the writing. I checked some of the errors against the hard copy of the book and found that those errors did not exist. It is sad that the less expensive version does not seem to rate the same attention as buying the physical book.
